Craddock x AE 15.1″ Recce Barrel

Craddock Precision has always been pushing the boundaries of what AE compatible barrels look like. If you want a barrel to have the taper profiled into it, makes the AEM5 direct thread, fluted, and chambered in 6ARC, they can do that. The NSW Recce was born from NSW optimizing the MK12 Mod 1 to be smaller and lighter while not significantly sacrificing on precision. We recently got to talking with Craddock about how great the Recce platform is and how we can help modernize it. From that conversation a new 15.1″ Recce barrel was born. 

First, the barrel utilizes an intermediate length gas system. This pushes the gas block all the way to the end of a KAC RAS Long rail and is the longest possible gas system you could run on a NSW Recce build.

The barrel does not use a traditional collar system, instead it uses a taper gasblock. Craddock offers their tapered gasblock when you order the barrel, but it will also work with the 1.100″ and 1.040″ Allegheny Arms Tapered Gas Block. The extended gas system helps push the taper past the rail for your suppressor to mount to. This helps create the tightest possible mounting configuration by combining the gas block and collar to a single piece. 

(The 1.100″ gas block will leave a small gap between the suppressor and the rail similar to a standard 15.1″ Recce with a traditional collar. The 1.040″ gas block should fit even tighter.)

To help modernize it further, the barrel is offered in 6ARC which has become an extremely popular round due to is performance at range. The 15.1″ barrel really shines with 6ARC and will extend your capabilities. It will also be available in the traditional .223.

In addition, this barrel is fluted making it one of the lightest 15.1″ Recce barrels on the market. Mobility was one of the main reasons for the creation of NSW Recce platforms. With a weight of 28.4oz this barrel exceeds at that purpose.

At the end of the day, this barrel is a Craddock barrel which means precision. Starting from a button rifled match grade SS blank helps give it the ability to reach out with accuracy.
